Your New Job

In your role, you will be an important part of the teaching at the Construction and Civil Engineering Program, focusing on heavy machinery operators. Here, you will work closely with students training to become the future operators and landscapers. Together with the educators, you will support the students in both their theoretical and practical tasks and help them develop the knowledge and skills that the industry demands.

The work takes place in all grades and at different levels, which means you will be able to follow the students' development from introduction to more advanced tasks. You will be involved in teaching both outdoors and in the classroom, contributing to students feeling safe, motivated, and engaged in their learning. Your role is to support, guide, and create good conditions for each student – regardless of where they are in their education.

Your Competence

In this role, we are looking for someone with solid and applied knowledge in earthworks and civil engineering. You need to be able to perform tasks related to earthworks for roads, building foundations, utilities, green areas, as well as asphalt, paving, and stone coverings. We prefer that you have experience in both new construction, renovation, and good knowledge of the various materials in the construction industry, their properties, and maintenance. An important aspect of the work is to work rationally, safely, and in an environmentally sustainable manner, as well as to understand quality assurance, production processes, and life cycle costs within the civil engineering sector.

To succeed in this role, you need to have good communication skills and be able to collaborate with both colleagues and students. You should enjoy planning, executing, and evaluating your work in a structured manner and be confident in your professional role. The role requires professional certification in street, road, and utility technology, as well as certification for wheel loaders and excavators.

In addition to this professional competence, we would like you to have pedagogical skills and a genuine interest in working with young people. You need to be able to teach both practically and theoretically within the vocational subject and be eager to develop the operations in collaboration with students, guardians, colleagues, and school management. Good industry contacts are advantageous, as well as experience in setting out/measuring with GPS and skills in stone setting.

TTC – Transport and Technology Center – is an important part of Bäckadalsgymnasiet and a central meeting place for practical learning in transport, vehicles, and technology in Jönköping. Here we gather training programs that give students access to modern facilities, specially adapted practice areas, and the equipment needed to develop in their future professional roles. The operations are conducted at Axamo, where TTC serves as one of the school's vocational-oriented educational environments within the municipality's upper secondary vocational education.
